As many of you may know, my year as Ms Maryland United States 2009 has come to an end. This has been a bittersweet year that has finally come to a close!!! I'd like to thank my sister queens (who will ALWAYS be my Sisters):

Nicole: it has been an honor to know you and I hope we can keep in touch through the years. You have become a great friend and I thank God that this year our paths have finally crossed...LoL. It always seemed as though we should have met years ago but for some reason we didn't until now. I have so much respect for you and the woman you have become. You make me proud to know you every day and I am so excited to see take the world by storm in the near future. You are the epitome of the bomb.com and don't let anyone tell you differently. We are going to have even more fun when Dan moves to Northern VA: Party, Party, Party!!!

Emily: the supermodel!!! You photograph like a dream and in reality you are such an angel. You have blossomed this year and I am so glad that you were one of my little sisters. You and your family helped make this year more than bearable and fun for me. Doing appearances knowing that you'd be there with your awesome Mom, Maureen was definately something I looked forward to. I can't wait to cheer you on at the Maryland's Outstanding Teen pageant and I know you will have so many more successes in your pageantry career. Keep in touch and I will too...we are still going to take a trip down there to relax by the ocean!!!

Tiara: thank you so much for being so hilarious!!! Your quick wit always helped me to stay focused on the big picture and not to sweat the small stuff. Though you were the youngest of our group I learned so much from you and will cherish all the memories of this past year. Your Mom and sister were great additions to our Maryland Delegation family and I hope for nothing but the best for you and Amber as you (hopefully) continue to compete in pageantry. You have so much to offer this industry and I can't wait to celebrate you in whatever you choose to pursue in the future!!!

Though this is my last Ms Maryland United States 2009 blog post, you all can follow my other blogs if you want to keep in touch and find out what I've been up to. I have decided to compete in the Beauties Of America pageant system and my National Pageant is August 11-15, 2010 in Myrtle Beach, SC...wish me luck!!!

On Sunday night I had the pleasure of supporting my sister queen Miss Maryland US 2009 (Nicole Ortiz) as she judged the Miss Teen Maryland Pageant. Miss Teen Maryland US (Emily Pettine) also joined me in supporting Nicole and we had a blast!!! It's always nice to spend time with my sister queens, the only one missing was Miss Jr Teen Maryland US (Tiara Smith), but I'm sure we will have more opportunities for all of us to work together in the coming months.

I am beyond excited about this weekend: My sister queens and I have another photo together. This time Angie (Tiara's Mom) will be there and our Maryland 2009 Delegation family will be complete!!! The last photo shoot was a blast and we learned a lot about each other, especially Nicole...LoL. As soon as I have some candids or the actual photos I'll be sure to post them...I need some serious hairstyle ideas for this one...any suggestions???

Yesterday I had the distinct pleasure to join all of my sister queens for an appearance. The Maryland Delegation headed to Thurgood Marshall Batlimore/Washington International Airport to hand out care packages for the USO to solider who were flying out to their deployment to Afghanistan and Iraq. It was an amazing feeling to join with Tiara, Emily and Nicole as well as Maureen, Sarah and Kirk to support our troops with our gratitude for their service!!! Thanks so much to Shaun Van Buren and Nicole Ortiz (miss Maryland US 2009) for organizing this wonderful appearance!!!

After our day helping the USO we broke for lunch and had a fabulous time getting to know each other better...Fun times...LoL

We then headed to Towson, MD for a photo shoot with Michelle Aristocrat. Let me tell you...IT WAS A BLAST!!! Not only is Michelle a nice lady, but she's an awesome make-up artist and visionary photographer. The official photos will be ready in a few days so stayed tuned. Yesterday I received a phone call from my state director, Chris Wilmer. He asked me if I was available for a photo shoot on Tuesday, Aug 11th. Looks like he has organized a photo shoot for all the Maryland girls for the website. Wow, we have an appearance Aug. 10th at BWI and a photo shoot the very next day. I love my sister queens and can't wait to see all of them again!!! Now all I have to do is figure out who's riding with who and to where...LoL.

Yesterday my sister queen, Ginny Meerman stopped by. She was in the area making an appearance (of course) and wanted to come by to say hi...LoL!!! Ginny looked breath-takingly BEAUTIFUL as always and it was great seeing her and her husband Chris. They are planning a party to view the DVD from her pageant and I can't wait: it's always nice to get together with good pageant friends. I also received an email from Nicole Ortiz, Miss Maryland United States 2009 and I'll be doing an appearance with Nicole (and hopefully Ginny) at BWI airport on August 10th from 2pm until 6pm. I'll be sure to post pictures from this event to support our troops!!!

This weekend was a BLAST: it felt sssooooooooo good to sleep in my own bed and get started with unpacking. I also enjoyed not wearing make-up or watching what I eat...I'll pay for it later...LoL

Also, one of my big projects are to get a White House tour for the 2009 United States delegation which is still a work in progress so, stay tuned!!!

Life After Vegas...LoL!!!

I know it's been FOREVER since I posted you in on what's going on. Well, no time like the present to get all caught up...LoL

Unfortunately, I didn't come home with the title of Ms United States 2009...but I met some of the most AMAZING women I have ever known!!! Juli, Amanda, Candice, Carla, Dina, Daphne, Quiana, Trisha, Jo, Margaret, Jennifer Michelle, Amy, Parlisha and ALL of the 2009 United States pageant delegates and staff: I can't thank you enough for making this pageant experience one of the best I've had.

Congratulations to Quiana Anderson the newly crowned Ms. United States 2009: you'll represent us well!!!

To my Sister Queens: Nicole, Emily and Tiara...I couldn't ask for better sisters!!! I'm honored to know each of you and I'm so glad that you're a part of my life!!!

I would not have been given this awesome opportunity to represent Maryland if not for my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ!!! Thank you Lord for traveling mercies to and from Las Vegas and for Your favor while we were there!!!

I had to take the day off work today: one of my co-workers decided that he would express his anger over a sistuation he had NO control over by pounding on my desk!!! So, in order for me to keep my job I had to leave and go home and take today off. I'll see if tomorrow will be better since it's Friday...

Unfortunately, today is a sad day and it's been an aweful week: Ed McMahon died this weekend, Nine (9) people were killed on a Metro red line train on Monday, Farrah Fawcett lost her battle with anal cancer today and this evening...Michael Jackson was found not breathing, cold and unresponsive in his rental home in LA and was pronounced dead at UCLA hospital!!!

Today I was up early getting ready for church...The services were AWESOME and I'm feeling more motivated as usual. Knowing that 'I can do ALL things through Christ which strenghteneth me' helps me get throught the rough patches and know that I can make it no matter what!!! That is all I need: Thank you Jesus for never leaving me nor foresaking me.

Continuing on from Friday, it turned out to be a really good day!!! I picked up my luggage for the Ms United States pageant next month and it's super cute. When I got home from work, my Mom and I headed to The Nationals game against the Blue Jays. I love going to those games and hanging out in the park...the food is so good and I was really bad...I ate so much food that I don't even want to discuss it...LoL!!! My Mom and I had a great time and I met some really cool people there too. As we were sitting in the park I looked up on the Jumbotron and there was Yolanda Makle...she won the contest she was in and looked GREAT!!! We didn't get a chance to see each other at the game since she was working and my phone died so, we left at the middle of the 7th inning. BTW: if I hadn't mentioned it before this was my nephew Jordan Ivory Hyatte's 12th Birthday!!!

Saturday, June 20, 2009: I got up around 7am and I was sssoooooooooooo not happy with myself and all the eating I'd done at the game. It was like I wasn't preparing for a pageant at all!!! So, I vowed to myself that I would go to the gym everyday until I leave for Vegas starting TODAY. I was getting ready for the gym and was pleased after my hour and a half long work-out...I always feel energized after working out and today was no different!!! So, in every post there will be a gym update: just so I stay on track. After the gym I headed over to Starbucks for my oatmeal and caramel apple spice (my guilty pleasure).

Then it was time to get ready for choir rehearsal: I joined one of the most talented and my FAVORITE choir in my church...The Bibleway Temple Radio Choir!!! The choir sings every Sunday during our church's live radio broadcast and every other 2nd Sunday for Communion. We usually hae choir rehearsal every 1st and 3rd Saturday but we get the summer off and this Saturday was our last rehearsal until September...I think

This morning I over-slept...AGAIN!!! To make the day go along better I stopped at Starbucks to make me feel better. While in the long line I heard someone call my name...I turned around and it was Meltonya Booze-Wakefield: my good friend from High School!!! I haven't seen her in about twelve (12) years or so...she looks exactly the same as she did in high school. As we waited in line I found out that she works across the courtyard from me and I didn't even know it: of course I had to update my Facebook and Twitter status' with the news...LoL

As I arrived at work I found that my boss had a 9 o'clock teleconference and it was 8:50am!!! He needed me to print out some slides for this teleconference so I had to kick it into high gear. Everything worked out well and I finally got a chance to sit down and have my Starbucks Oatmeal...OMG, they made my oatmeal with water and not milk!!! Now, I have to walk back across the street for my correct order. They were really great and I told them that this must be God's way of telling me to exercise more...LoL

Another day closer to Vegas...

Today I'm one step closer to my trip to Vegas for the pageant...I purchased airline tickets for my Mom and I and our hotel reservation was made some time ago: we're all set!!! I found the cutest pink luggage that I bought for this trip and beyond...my old luggage has been through the ringer and it's time for an upgrade. Hopefully, this pageant I won't over-pack...keep your fingers crossed...LoL

Tomorrow is my nephew's 12th birthday: I got tickets to the Nats game for us. Unfortunately I didn't check his schedule to find out that he'd planned a bowling party with his friends...:( Oh well, I'll have to be sure to tell Jordan all about the game.

So, in the midst of my work-out sessions, clothing fittings and work I have to pack up and get ready to move. I'm moving from my apartment to a townhouse with lots more room!!! I haven't packed anything and I hope and pray that I get motivated to get the ball rolling. The beginning of July is packed for me: July 1st - moving day, July 4th - MY BIRTHDAY, July 9th - hair appointment, July 10th - leave for Las Vegas...when do I get some sleep within that timeframe?!?!?

A day in the life...

Well, the past few days I've been busy, busy, busy!!! My Interview Suit is being altered and should be ready today and my swimsuit for my pageant arrived on Monday: I just couldn't help but try it on...and couldn't take if off...LoL!!! My evening gown will be ready right before my birthday which is a week before the pageant. I am SSSOOOOO ready for the swimsuit portion of competition as well as all the others areas of competition. I honestly just can't wait to compete again: it's been two (2) years since I've competed.

Yesterday was a big day for my family: my nephew grduated from the 6th grade!!! We are so proud of Jordan as he ventures off to Middle School. The program was adorable and as we entered Central High School for the commencement I could hear Jordan behind me telling all his friends, "Hey, that's my aunt", "Did you know that's my aunt". It made me so happy to hear that Jordan was as proud of me as I am of him...

Now it's back to the grind at work and I can't complain too much: in this economy I'm glad that I have a job and one that I enjoy doing!!! Well, I guess I need to get off the computer and head to work...ttyl

This Past Weekend!!!

Well, the weekend has come and gone so fast...I spent most of this weekend learning more about the contestants in my upcoming pageant. They all seem really nice and I can't wait to meet them all in Vegas!!!

On Friday I drove up to Sommerdale, PA for the send-off Party for my friends Wendy Sledd and Deborah Wright. Wendy is the reigning Mrs Pennsylvania Galaxy and Deborah is the reigning Mrs Galaxy International!!! The Galaxy International Pageant is the week prior to my pageant and I wish I could attend both...It was awesome to view the video from last year's Galaxy pageant, view Wendy and Deborah's wardrobe for the pageant this summer and catch up with my good friend Darlene Deeben, Mrs Galaxy International 2008.

The rest of the weekend I slept and went to church on Sunday (so, I slept all day Saturday...LoL) and I'm off work today and tomorrow...

BTW: Happy Birthdy to my little brother Adrian Dante' Reeves!!!

Well, in exactly thirty (30) days I'll be in Vegas competing for the Ms United States 2009 title. The other delegates and I have been emailing one another exchanging pleasantries...makes meeting next month that much more exciting!!!

So far I have selected my evening gown and interview ensemble...my swimsuit is still up in the air. I'll most likely bring three (3) different swimsuits and decide which one to wear at the pageant...no big deal...

Tomorrow I'm headed to Pennsylvania for Wendy Sledd and Deborah Wright's send-off party for the Galaxy International pageant...should be fun!!!

Well hello!!! My name is Radiah Hyatte and I'm proud to represent Maryland as Ms. Maryland United States 2009. So far I have made a number of appearances and from here on out I will be sharing them as the appearances happen.
